The Neglected Blog, Poor Guy...

Gosh, I've neglected this blog for almost 2 months already! You must have waiting for some news about the new iPhone 4G from here, well, I'm not interested in Apple products though...

(an iPhone 4 picture from Apple's international website)

But I just wanna say that last updates about my new Nokia 5630 was canceled due to stock availability in my region. I'm forced by situation to buy a Nokia X3, a well made phone with plastic casing (sounds like a lowered quality, and it's not really lighter than my 5310, its heavier because it's a slide), it has the standard three special music buttons on the left side like my previous Nokia 5310, and surprisingly has the same type of battery with Nokia 5310.

(My Nokia X3 screenshots)

I also got a number for it, it's ****-8310-8068, the first "8310" sounds like remembering the lost Nokia 5310, while the "8068" is what I like, it sounds like Intel 8086, which was the first processor to have x86 structure inside. My experience of using this phone? Well, it's a bit pricey to have than a Nokia 5630, but it's worth it because we got budded earphones (high-quality bass!), a newly designed S40 interface (almost like S60, but still felt S40 in some conditions) and a better processor than the 5310 ( H.264 video encoding just got better).

Well, I dunno when I'll update this blog again, I've my Facebook profile, playing My Empire, Restaurant City and Hotel City. I've also recently used Google Chrome to play Facebook (its games are a bit incompatible with Opera), I admit it's better now than the BETA version, it's fast (the gameplay or processing speed, not network speed!) because it's designed as a multi-threaded application (better execution for dual-core processors, still doesn't really effect for Intel Atoms...). I've to end this now, Bye!

Microsoft Is Still Better Than Apple

Despite its outraging monopoly in the past (now it's started to be defeated by Mozilla, Google and Apple) Microsoft was still better in many ways. First, it has the best PC game compatibility as most people used Windows OS series, so game designers made them mostly for Windows OS. Second, it could change OS in a PC, whereas Apple PCs could only be installed with Apple Mac OS, except some porting and hacking processes. The third one was that Apple's products was always more expensive than PCs and competing products.

The video below describes how many people chooses Windows over Mac made by a guy named Leon Wang. In this video, it's illustrated by a Terminator which asks for a dollar not to buy a beverage, but to charge himself from a nearby charger vending machine. How's next? Just watch. (thanks Engadget for the news of the video and the guy making this video and so on)

HP Slate: Killed?

Last month iPad was finally released, it brings people advantages and disadvantages. iPad was one of Apple's gadgets that's made to either surf the web, E-Book Reader or a handheld game console like iPod Touch. Before the launch, rumor has it, that it might have a camera for video conference. Weirdly, it's not included like its smaller variant iPod Touch and iPhone. Critics also said it just looks like a flattened and widened iPhone and strips the camera.

HP Slate from Engadget, resized by Wikipedia

Due to the tablets started to be introduced, HP started to create its own tablet, named the HP Slate. The ads was interesting, as it does Flash (which was rare for handheld devices at the time) and it could also do some functions that iPad could do. The most important thing was, it's Windows variant, a newly brewed Windows 7 by Microsoft that's already planned before to compensate the use of touchscreens with larger touchable buttons. HP Slate brings hope to Windows lovers and users of a good designed tablet.

Microsoft Courier, from Gizmodo

But, as Microsoft has just killed its tablet project called Courier (I didn't know anything about it, it's only a two sided touchscreen, like two iPads stick together side-to-side), rumor has it, that HP Slate was also going to be killed. It may be caused by the low interest of users using tablets as they're heavy to be carried on every time but also too portable to be sitting at home. The market of tablet was actually started 10 years ago, its disadvantages kills 'em time by time as popularity decreases. So, will the tablets again ended with disappointing result? Just wait...

(>_<) No Phone Till Today !?!?!?!?!?!!!!!

P.S.: My God.... My phone was nowhere to found in Jakarta, all phone shops said 'kosong', means empty which actually means zero stock. There's one store which has it, but it's red colored, mine is silver. Causes, BlackBerry is one of the causes which Nokia started to withdrew from Indonesia's middle-class market. But, at least, it has to stock its phone as listed on the website. Even the Nokia center also said that there's no stock for that phone, with unknown reasons from the 'warehouse'. If it's unavailable, fine, I'll choose another phone. But please, don't hang it around in the website if it's unavailable!

Fight Against Obesity In The Future!

Hi there! Long time no blogging for me, huh? Well, from the last post I already said, these days are bad days for me. Maybe it's because it's the Year of Tiger, so it threatens me as I'm a Pig in Chinese Zodiac (rumor has it, Tiger eats Pig, get it?).So, I've to be patient this year. Also, due to the lost of my lovely slim and fully featured handphone, the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, I'm going to buy a new phone, seriously immediately. 'Cuz I'm stuck with a shitty phone (sorry for the word) as it's so bad that when you've just made a phone call, the batteries dropped 50%, forcing you not to make any phone call anymore. The speaker also low in volume and quality, forcing my ears to stick with the handset and came with a temporary ear deafness after the phone call. Forget about MP3 or video playbacks, it doesn't even have a headset jack!

Courtesy of Phone Arena
As from the last post, I've updated it and the new decided phone was Nokia 5630 XpressMusic (yet another XpressMusic!). It only lacks QWERTY Keyboard, but almost costs half than its QWERTY counterparts, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic (sorry, I'll prefer to stick with Nokia XpressMusic Line). But, there are couples of phones, with the same features and it has touchscreen! (Yeah, Touchscreen, what so special?). IMHO (In My Humble Opinion), touchscreen needs to be perfected even more to reach the reliability and solidness of user interface, as some touchscreen always need calibration, will cracked easily if dropped several times (remember the 5310 nostalgia from the last post, the 'Torture part'?) and I still prefer styluses over dirty fingers for solid interface and maybe handwriting recognition in the future (it draws too!).

So, to match the title of the post, I've actually found a video and the post containing it (from Engadget, many thanks) about the new one-wheeled transporter Honda U3-X which uses gyros like Segway PTs to control the balance of its loads, which was currently human. But, the disadvantage was, if future was filled by these human transporters, then, why we need legs? To kick balls? To stump cockroaches? Hey, it's for walking, jogging, and running.

A Segway PT, from Wikipedia
Cars are meant to be built to transport humans for long distances, not for short distances like from your bedroom to the outside garden. But, even with cars aboard, people may become lazy to walk as cars have air conditioning and FM Radio if you like to. But thanks to traffic jams, people sees cars as convenient way of travel, if without the traffic jams, so some of them used bikes to commute. Again, but, if these transporters is made in the future, people around the world might have a gain in weight for a short time. Because they don't use legs anymore. They used it only for walking from door to bedroom. Bikes will disappear from countries, except India maybe... and displayed in museum with the word displayed "this bike was currently replaced by Segways and others for convenience to this world". Convenience is good, but it's no longer convenience if you keep gaining weight. So exercise from now on, ride bikes for exercises and move away from your computer (except you're using treadmill in front of it). It's for your better future.

If you're BlackBerry user and not an executive at the same time, keep using it as your friends told you to. As your friends told you to. As your friends told you to. As your friends told you to. You're told by your friends to use Blackberries? Stupid! Be free to choose your 'own' handphone choice, not being forced by friends only for using BlackBerry Messenger and costs $400 plus a gain of 100 gr from previous phone. Just see how would you use the phone. Just see how would you use the phone. Just see how would you use the phone, hahaha!!!

UPDATE: Now what! A rare availability of the both Nokia 5630 and Nokia 5730 at the same time in Jakarta? What do you want BlackBerry? Creating heavy useless bricks of phones for the future? It's you who made Nokia sales dropped a lot that availability was rare!!! F*ck you BlackBerry!!! (sorry for the word, cuz I really hate 'em!)

Horribilis Days! These Days Are Bad....

Rest In Nowhere
Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic
Mid 2009 - 16th April 2010
With Phone no. 081932325***

Oh.... My God..... So many trenches and rocks in my life nowadays, from 'something that's quite sad' that I can't tell you because it's personal, to the loss of my beloved and tortured workhorse handphone, Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic, a slim and light, specially designed for music, black colored phone. I loved this phone so much that I'm willing to reward the one who found my phone. I've also prayed to God to help me to find the phone these days, but resulted nothing till today although still hoping...

The phone has already tortured for about ~10 months. First, it had some water droplets on its body, test success from not being electrocuted. Then, falling from about 1,5 meters above ceramic tile and flown away from centrifugal forces, test succeeded, although when dropped for the 8th time, the left case cover was half-opened due to heavy forces. The phone is a daredevil for me, as surviving those events and also a daily workhorse (digital lifestyle? Music, Video, Phone, SMS, Photo, Games, Archiving, Notes, what else?), it's one of the best phones I've ever seen, due to its lightness, design and capabilities at low cost. A dream phone? I think so.

Now, I've to search a future replacement of this phone at $200 price. It must have a camera, music buttons and FM Radio, a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, screen about 2-inch, a keypad(no touchscreen!) and it must be Nokia (Sorry, but I prefer to stick with Nokia). If could, I wanted QWERTY Keyboard (again, no touchscreen!), internet over WLAN, a GPS, or etc. But I just couldn't found it in Nokia phone finder. What a sad day...

Well, I've just to wait for someone to find my phone in a location that I believed was said to be 'searched' before, but maybe they're just not careful enough. God bless me.

Anyway, sorry for the 'Long time no blogging' as these days are hard for me, I've also had multiple tests last week, so it's a busy day for me.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 Get Benchmarked And Compared, Not So Good

For the long awaiting fans and supporters of NVIDIA GPUs, the long delayed GTX 480 and 470 was finally benchmarked by Tom's Hardware (again, copying!). We hoped some extra boost on power and efficiency (price? don't think about it, they're high-enders) from the delay that's almost one year.

But, it comes out that it did beaten Radeon HD5870 and HD5850 in performance, but their brother, Radeon HD5970 seems to still taking the performance crown in the comparison. But, the Radeon HD5970 was lost in power consumption and heat output from GTX 470. Unfortunately, the Radeon HD58** brothers won the comparison by having the lowest power consumption and heat output. This clearly stated that GTX 480 and 470 was in the middle of the Radeon Family, rather than outperforming all of them in terms of power consumption and heat output or performance and efficiency. So, this is all we got from the delay we'd waiting for? Not so fast!

Although I'm one of Radeon fanboys, but I expected NVIDIA to be the best in performance, both in quality and speed, not only speed and fps, as they're quite useless for human eyes (30 fps is enough for me). But according to Tom's Hardware, NVIDIA was taking a long time in researching softwares, CUDA and GPGPU (CPU calculations using GPU). NVIDIA 'is' the best one for folding, they're good in calculations and all related things, so that's why they have high fps. But, it's already defined from the name, it's Graphic Card, not Physics Calculation Card. So, it must do best in what it functioned for, displaying graphics in games and all sorts of things that required graphics. So, which one is better, NVIDIA or ATi? Never ask that type of question or you'll start an internet war or Cyberwar, especially in computer enthusiasts forums.

Photoshop CS4 Rocks!

Hi there! It's been a little bit while when I posted the last news. Today, I found a news from Tom's Hardware, (why I always copy-paste their news nowadays? Needs some improvements...) about a video that was illustrated by Adobe Photoshop Product Manager, Bryan O'Neil, telling one of the new feature in Adobe Photoshop CS4 that's still unreleased. I often do some photoshoping with my Photoshop CS2 (a slightly more decent, unknown and older version of it) and one of my Photography Enthusiast friend said "It's rubbish". And it seems that it is rather a decent one, because when I saw the feature that's illustrated on this video, I'm shocked how a photoshoping software have done that. Just see the video!

Shocked, me too! (thanks for Tom's Hardware for the news and YouTube for displaying video)

Relieve Boredom With New Colorful Sony E Series

Although this life is so colorful (brown colored rivers and swamps, green colored mold, and grayish brown colored dust and air pollution), PC makers still offer their products in gray-scale based color. From the famous commonly adopted (and boring?) silver to the most common color black, there's a little chance that they'll put a red, green or blue color for it as customers and manufacturers thought "it's too colorful". But, a stylish (yet 'quite' pricey) electronic manufacturers, Sony, offered a series of VAIO laptop, named the E Series, with various colors. Although some of the color might hurt your eyes (and feelings about your next laptop), but you could choose many color from the common black & silver to the rarest and The Sims 3 color, green. Check out the website given below!

Reasons Why We're Still Using Desktops And Laptops Instead of Tablets (iPad, HP Slate, etc)

And the reasons are quite shocking but true and sensible. They lacked almost 25% of normal desktops, laptops, or even netbooks would have. The UI (User Interface), especially Windows XP (don't even think about that even worse and slower Vista to fit in a tablet!), which has small buttons, was hard to be touched by fingers, especially for the capacitive-type touchscreen. Although Microsoft has made the tablet version of the XP, it just won't satisfy market and user demand. Just see the below link for more detail.

5 Reasons Tablets Suck And You Won't Buy One

A Gaming Smartphone, Almost Everyone's Dream

Although gaming in mobile phones was quite a hard way of gaming (you're forced to press small buttons and see the game on a less than 4-inch display, plus 8-bit quality sound). But, how about gaming in a smartphone, a phone that could be equipped with 1000 MHz ARM processor plus 512 MB of RAM, and a dedicated graphic unit plus sound unit, a 4-inch wide touchscreen display and a touchscreen controlled game to satisfy your gaming experience? It does sounds fun and it did, but how fun? See the video below as it demonstrates the future fusion of multimedia, games, and internet with smartphones. The video below demonstrates future Windows Mobile 7 (Not even a strip down version of Windows 7) handled a game with above 20 fps (COOL!!!) and it's also amazingly 3D (not the stereoscopy one). Check It Out!

HAH!!! Take That BlackBerry! Now Your US Users Are Moving For Other Smartphone, Take That!!!

There's a survey that shows 40% of US BlackBerry users is willing to trade their BlackBerry for an iPhone (I told ya, BlackBerry=Business\Executive, iPhone=Personal\Teen\Family?) and even more, 32% of BlackBerry users also willing to move to Nexus One (a good choice!). But, is Nexus One and iPhone really good? Well, for me Nexus One is good, but for iPhone, it's Apple, it's pricey... How would you prove both of them is great? According to the same survey, 90% of both of the phone's users didn't want to move out. Here's the survey's facts=
  • Total Test Users= 1000 people
  • Regular Phone (not smartphone)= 44% (some of these people pushed their phone efficiencies to the max... Nice job!!)
  • iPhone= 17%
  • BlackBerry= 15% (it's OK if they're lawyers, Barack Obama, or executives, but not household mothers and teens!!!)
  • Nokia= 10% (hoping some sales growth in 2010 with new Symbian platform
  • WinMo= 4% (I thought many people used this...)
  • Android= 3% (Nexus One, Motorola Droid, etc) (Relax, it's still growing)
  • Palm= 2% (Almost the same as BlackBerry..., business phones)
So, how about Indonesia? Just wait... (Hahahahaha!!!!!)

The 1st '.com' URL Went 25 Years Old On March 15

My God, you guys were Facebooking and Twitting all the time and didn't know that there's a legendary Top Level Domain out there, which was '.com', that just celebrates its 25th birthday on March 15th. Almost all company which has website was once depended on this domain. But now, it varies from .org to .net or anything you like. Then, what's the matter with Facebook and Twitter? Well, the domain '.com' starts the cultural style of the internet as nowadays all things that ended with '.com' was known as URL Links. So, if there's no '.com' there's no Facebook.com and changed into Facebook instead, without anything in its behind and not telling you that it's the website called Facebook. So, if you keep Twitting and Facebooking, ignoring facts that's happening around you, including your dying PC and neglected Friendster profile, you're a irresponsible 'thing'. Especially the one who bought Blackberry 'only' for Blackberry Messenger for a whopping $500 bucks. With $500, I could buy a PC or a Multimedia HP Netbook (for games before 2006...), rather than an expensive unfit for personal use business smartphone.

What A Great Technology Era We're Living In...

Technology changed from time to time, there's no limitation for technology to change and evolve, only economy and market condition which affects the growth of it. From the vintage 1950s Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) TVs to a whopping 42" 21st century LED LCD TV. From the earliest gaming video card from the (now defunct) 3dfx VooDoo to the most powerful (only now, will be beaten by Nvidia GeForce 400 Series soon...) ATI Radeon HD 5970. What a wonderful technology, isn't it? So wonderful that a museum in Jakarta, which was Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum/Batavia Museum), was being used for an art creation using video projectors to project images to the front of the museum. There's a video...

Wonderful? No? Is it because it's too long and the camera was quite shaky? It's not my fault anyway...

The Calendar That Could Tear Itself

This calendar, made by STIHL, is a new household innovation. It's nice that finally 'something' helps you to tear the paper off the calendar automatically as the day has changed. But, it seems that it's recommended that a trash bin should be positioned below it as the paper would just thrown away to the floor when torn apart. Check the video!

ARRGGHH!!! WHAT A WASTE!!!

The video below shows a guy, which was from the website DigitalRev (never heard of it), tried to beat a useless, non-sense challenge of repainting the nicely-designed and made in black colour, Nikon D90 DSLR, into pink. The challenge was a ruined one as the D90 seemed to ended up becoming a magenta colored DSLR brick. Then they contacted Nikon Support Center, telling some lies to cover up the problem. This was truly a waste as the Nikon D90 was a gooood DSLR, only a bit old. Just watch the video! (I'm really feeling bad with this, especially the D90)

Seen the video? Is there's a lot mistakes in the repainting job. Well, I found some, and here's ways to avoid it:

  1. Never wear thick gloves or anything in your hand when handling or repairing fragile things.
  2. Never do something that needs concentration on desk which has things on top of it (That Apple desktop in the video including the keyboard was in a high risk of damage, it's Apple man!)
  3. Never 'force' open things without knowledge or experience of repairing current device.
  4. Never break any useful things, except there are two of it (almost all things are useful for the future (becoming antique and vintage things))
  5. Never do custom painting on devices except all fragile electronic parts are being dissected.
  6. Drawing sketch of the device first for the screw seems to be a waste of time as all screws looked the same kind (but beware if the screw was different, even a millimeter in length, could cause some fatal cracks on screw-holes if forced to screw in)
  7. Never use "fancy" tapes as they tend to have bad quality adhesive material (it sticks, but it doesn't completely removed if the plastic was removed)
  8. Never repair or force open things when you've no responsibility for it.
  9. Never repair yourself or force open things if the current device was expensive for yourself
  10. If you find it, comment below!

Well, it's almost ten faults done by this UK English-speaking asian guy while repainting this wasted D90. So, NEVER TRY THIS AT ANY DEVICES!!! (except for some reasons)

This HP Slate Rocks!

Do you know about HP Slate? It's HP's product to compete against it's Apple counterpart, the iPad. Then, what's iPad? (it's a 'pricey' thing) See it yourself on the given Wikipedia link and see it's reception. But the video below advertised about HP Slate's great features. It surprisingly runs Windows 7 (hope it fits on the low computing resource environment). It doesn't have a keyboard or even a keypad, as it's replaced by the large 8.9-inch touchscreen display. It also supports Flash, while handheld devices are rarely getting Flash support. Price, screen resolution, and USB ports are still unknown. But check the video below out how fantastic the HP Slate is!

The Art of Macro Photography...Nice....

See the photo above, nice isn't it. Well, that's what I called "The Art of Photography". Some might think that art of it came from the background of the image, some says that the art came from the failure of photography (long exposure, blur, bokehs, etc). But for me the art came from the clarity, the extra-sharpness, the contrast, the reality and the color of the image. It depends on situation around the object you're going to capture, it also depends on what camera you're using (I know, but it's still useless if you're using VGA camera).

Well, I've to stop now (I've written 3 paragraphs and it's now lost!!!) Bye! (speechless!@##$)

The Battle of The Browsers!!! Yeah, Finally!!!

After a lot of long controversies, finally a legendary and (quite?) trusted website, Tom's Hardware made a breakthrough in its benchmark history. It made a benchmark that could revolutionize a little in true, real life, web browsing performance of the, Web Browsers.

So long that web browser users fight about their browsers performance, from the newly and improved design, IE8 (we have to exclude IE6 for some reasons), to the least known and my favorite, Opera. Some argue and believed that Mozilla Firefox is the fastest. Those believers was tricked by those liars!!! (Remember, never trust easily to people's recommendations, even he's your boss or parent maybe, research it first!!!). Some said that Chrome is the fastest one. Although I resist and chosen Opera, it's proved, Google chrome IS the fastest one on earth.

But always remember research it first. Web browsers doesn't depend on web speed only. It aslo depends on its productivity, which wasn't tested in the benchmarks (I still doubt Google Chrome). Oh! Almost forgotten, Safari also claims the fastest, really? Recheck the benchmark.

For benchmarks form Tom's Hardware, click the below link!

The Death of IE6, Finally

As the age of IE6 was getting older and less user are using it right now, the web designer, Aten Design, set up a real funeral (some sorrow might be excluded) for the death of IE6, dated March 1, 2010. There's even a website contributed for the funeral, ie6funeral.com. Even Microsoft also sent a flower, with card written:

"Thanks for the good times, IE6. See you all @ MIX, where we'll show a little piece of IE heaven. Internet Explorer Team at Microsoft"

Look What Internet Has Done To A Baby Till She Died!

How? How the internet, which was only a connection to the world and sits on the PC, could cause the death of a baby? Well, internet has caught her parent's attention of playing an online virtual world in an internet cafe for 12 hours. This happened in Korea, and both parents are known as Kim. They left their baby in hunger, for 12 hours, only for the online simulation game called as PRIUS.

Before the death of the 3 months old baby, they fed her with a rotten milk and mad at her when she cried. Both parent are jobless, spent most of their time at internet cafe, even if the wife was pregnant. They both lived with wife's parent. For more information click the below link.

Something Went Terribly Wrong With This Nexus One

And while HTC (although Google was selling this phone, the actual maker was actually a smartphone manufacturer, called HTC that's based in Taiwan) was still investigating the cause of the problem which the phone was totally bruised in the AMOLED screen and cracked in the screen cover, there are many speculation speculated that the phone wasn't fit in our pockets, which was usually filled with wallet, keys, and maybe a Swiss Knife. Although the testing of the phone (there's a video which illustrate how's this phone was tested in human environment, I've it here) was conducted professionally, there's still unknown reason for the phone's cracked and bruised screen.

The owner of the phone, CNET Crave, described that before the phone was founded to be totally bruised and cracked, they're charging it on the table and then they went for lunch. The first speculation was that a dog jumped over the phone and made it broken. But the evidence was known to be not enough for a such damage. How could it be, charging a phone could cracked the screen cover and bruised the new AMOLED screen? Just wait the answer... Anyway, just to note that the cost of repairing the damage was about £180 ($270, huge!), including parts, labor, shipping and VAT.

Joke: Hitler Went Mad When His PS3 Was Bogged Down (Video)

Watch this funny faked video scene that's taken from the movie Downfall (German: Der Untergang) that illustrate how mad some of PS3 users that their console was bogged down and corrupted when using the PSN (PlayStation Network) which was also bogged down. Problems were said to be caused by internal clock failure in the PS3 that's made by ARM (the company which makes some of Nokia's phone processor, relax it's not going to happen to any of the phone). Anyway, enjoy the video!

(Thanks for YouTube to feature the video at the front page, and also the guy who's making this clip)

UPDATE: UPDATE: UPDATE: Another Funny Hitler Video!

Well, when I was reviewing the video performance on my blog, I found another funny video in the 'related videos' on the YouTube Player. It's perfectly dubbed, describing the curiosity from Hitler about the rumors of PS3 Slim which was already known to be there and there are even pictures of it. Check this Out!

AMD 890GX Motherboards Were Out, Looks Interesting

The motherboards of the latest design from AMD that combined the power of ATI Radeon Graphic with their chipsets were out. The chipset was coded 890GX, while the i integrated graphic was A ATI Radeon HD 4290, which clocked to a hefty amount of 700 MHz. This is truly quite an engineering marvel as nowadays Intel chipsets' so-called 'Graphic Media Accelerator' can't beat a 3 years old graphic card, even the X4500 series (for the truth, check GPU 1:1 Chart at Tom's Hardware). So, are you interested with this? If so, check the reviewers reports:

The City That Changed Name To 'Google' in Kansas, unofficially though

What city that dares to change their own name? Well, it depends on their reasons to change it. But, in March 1 2010, the city Topeka, Kansas, changed their name 'unofficially' to Google, Kansas. The reason was quite weird, as the mayor only wanted a high-speed Internet system in the city, supplied by Google. More details? Hit the link below!

It's 'PSP' And Also 'Phone', From China

What else that China couldn't fake? Of course, it's money! Only?
Well, it seems that almost everything could be copied by the Chinese. This handheld device for example was a copy of Sony PSP. It seems to be smaller, but as it's China's copy, it has some additional feature to call and send messages as a phone. Unique, smart and clever, right?

A Short NVIDIA Story Based on its GPU Dies

The link below linked us to a small slideshow showing us NVIDIA GPU dies that are sorted by their announcement date. NVIDIA is a company that's already dominating the graphic processing unit world thirteen years ago, from the ancient and legendary 'TNT' to the newly-designed, complex (and delayed) GeForce 400 Series, codenamed "Fermi". Just scroll through the pages and images of the dies and notice the amount of memory changed form as little as 16MB to marvelous 1GB of graphic memory! What a change...

The iPhone will be charged with: Oranges!?!?!?

Yes, it's the truth especially when you've learn about battery cells. It's not easy to buy so many oranges and we have to slice it one-by-one (maybe for increased power efficiency). So many oranges, just to charge an iPhone.

How To: Research About The Product 'Personally' Before Buying It

Hello! Today I'm gonna tell you about things that you might need before buying things. It's how to research about a product before you buy it. Well, it's an essential thing because you don't wanna lose your money for a crap. So, research about it first and spend your money well.

The First Step was to find the product information on the web. If it's not on the web or rarely seen on the web, than it's likely that the product you choose was unpopular in the web or just inadequate for you. But, if there's your product listed and there's review of it by certain reviewers or comments from users, then you have to see it and realize how bad or good this product was.

The Second Step was to compare it to its main rivals. For example, you've chosen a DSLR camera with reviews from dpreview.com and PhotographyBLOG saying that it's a good and nice camera, but have problems in handling and still have higher prices than its competitors. So, you searched and finally found its rivals, and you found one which have a bit lower image quality, but have higher performance and lower price. If this happens, then choose the one that suit your need either by reviewers thoughts or by the specification and price listed. It's up to you.

If the product was a perfect winner in terms of price/performance, it's recommended to check the prices of the product in your city/state. Because, usually the products that's compared from price/performance used local/retail prices. If the prices was higher/lower a bit, then search its following rivals and re-compare their price/performance.

But price/performance chart reviews may sometime choose a lower quality but higher amount of features products. This may lead into a greater disaster for searching the products that worth the money. So, try find something more branded and higher quality, like Samsung, LG, Sony (this company put prices higher than its features only for the design of it), Panasonic, etc.

The last was to make sure if the product has its repair center in your area. This guarantees that if the product you bought was broken, it has its service center to do the servicing without hassle.

Shame On You: Even A Monkey Could Upgrade a Graphic Card

Shame for people who didn't know how to upgrade a graphic card, especially the 'lazy' and 'uneducated' one and only knows 'gaming on PC' for the rest of his childhood, as this video below represents how easy upgrading a graphic card is for computer enthusiasts (like me!). So, get out of that Warcraft Online Game and learn something about your PC. Don't just be a lazy kid that's sitting in front of the monitor playing the games without noticing that your PC was like 'hell'(overheated).

This video below seems to be from AMD's mainstream desktop graphic unit line, ATI Radeon.

Seen 2 or 3 16x PCI-E ports on single mobo, how about SEVEN of 'em?

You know, when you opened the case of your PC you could see that there was a single or more 16x PCI-E ports on the mobo (stands for Motherboard). Usually it's only one, two or more advanced, three of them for SLI (nVidia) and CrossFireX (ATi).

But, a company called EVGA has made a prototype, coded W555, containing SEVEN of 16x PCI-E ports, so many that it didn't left any space for their families and ancestors ('ye old PCI port and smaller sister 1x PCI-E port). That's not only the special thing, it also has two LGA1366 socket to accomodate two Intel Xeon processor that's designed for server, now could be made to fit into a (gaming/workstation) desktop. It's also designed to be overclockable. Even more, it also has 12 DDR3 DIMM socket to accomodate a bunch of memory, maximum amount still unknown.

Of course, accommodating a huge amount of high performance parts in your rig must have made something to be so special that it needs a fan. What? Fan? On the mobo? Yes, a fan specially made for the chipsets that's been hardworking to accomodate these huge amount of power plant. So hot that it needs a fan, just imagine that. Well, I started to think about power consumption though...

Function of this mobo? Well, when viewed form the amount of processor sockets it had, it must be some kind of a workstation/server. But, when viewed from the potential amount of GPU installed, it doesn't make sense and only one type of person who could used it (depends on his budget).

It's the Folding Team. Though, I can't explain long about it in this topic, but indeed, it's a club or team that uses their rig (PC/Laptop) to be used together, indirectly becoming a supercomputer, for protein folding that can be used as anti-cancer medicine, etc. There's a PC fact that nowadays graphic card was so powerful that it's physics counting performance was faster than a processor. So folders (an individual of a folding team) used their GPU as a priority in folding rather than using the CPU. More GPU, more faster folding.

With this mobo they would be happy folding and bragging about his rig's folding performance.

Bored with high quality realistic games? Try 8-Bit games!

Lol, what's 8-Bit? Is it a brand new band from America or a new fantastic game? No, it's a type of gaming consoles era between 1980s and 1990s and more simple, it's before the time the Playstation 1 was launched (lol, now it's 15 years old, how about the 8-Bits?). The games were old and only a few retro gamers plays on it. But compared to nowadays game, the 8-Bits seems to be more fun rather than a highly rendered real-life-like games. How? Well, maybe it's because the 8-Bits graphic design was quite poor that most people sees it as an 'electronic game'. While nowadays games mostly simulates the possible and impossible real-life achievements in games. That makes it hard to be defeated and takes some time to accomplish. While 8-Bits, "Just jump and kill The Boss, YOU WIN!!!" That sounds to easy. But think again, you just could win some of the 8-Bit games in simple tips and tricks, while nowadays game needs some concentration to win. "When we wanted to win a game we must need a full concentration!!!" the comment before was made by a fanatic gamer and don't listen to him/her or you'll ended up like him/her that plays game for battle! Hey, it's just a game, lol...

A simple example (not detailed) of 8-Bit quality games that made into a short, funny, movie...

World of Goo: A Special Yet Simple Physics Game

I wanted to introduce about the game which was quite fun to be played rather than standard, already bored, 3D online/offline games. It's called 'World of Goo', a nicely designed 2D game that uses 'goos' to complete levels.

Most of the game's goal was to deliver special goos or unused goos to the pipe at the other end. The game is based on a story which the goos were escaped in Level 1 and starting to explore the world around them. It's also designed in some kind of a gothic style, but yet funny and sometime 'cute'. The graphic is still nice and good without the 3D. It's also seems to be relying on physics freshly computed from the computer, making it more like a real-life game. Maybe beating the challenges in levels are hard, but the little goos and the curiosity of an interesting story waiting ahead makes you wanted to proceed however hard it is. This game sometime forces you to think more to compete with the real-life physics to complete the level, which makes it challenging. It's a truly simple yet outstanding game...

Have You Heard of : Ericofon?

Well, now Happy New Year is over and let's start continuing our daily life. But there's an interesting thing that might caught your interest. If you liked retro-styled things from cars to clock, then you might liked this.

It's an old but yet still interesting and unique phone called Ericofon. Designed by Ericsson's design team in 1940s and built by Ericsson in 1954 (North Electric for USA market in 1961). This phone was unique as it combined both rotary dial and handset into single unit. The phone will only work if the switch hook isn't pressed. It also made in 18 different colors (later 8 for USA) that looks nice and suitable for every room. It changed the world perception of how phones could be designed, creating innovations that todays cellphone still implement the basics of it.

It also has a unique tone called Ericotone (only USA version). It's a chirping sound, created from transistor oscillator that controls it. This was also an innovation in phone design as it was the first phone to implement transistor on it. It's later discontinued in 1972 with the last implemented design called Touch Tone. But this version was rare as it's hook switch was poorly designed and broke easily when the phone was dropped on a hard surface.

Later Ericsson designed a new type of Ericofon to celebrate company's 100th anniversary. It's later called Ericofon 700. It did sold out but never went into American market. Today the Ericofon is weird-looking, old phone compared nowadays phone. But, think again, nowadays desk phone's handset still needed to be picked up and dial it on the telephone set. While Ericofon, just pick it up and dial everywhere you like from the handset as long as the telephone cable still attached. What an 'classic' innovation...
